The best source for vintage watches offering this scarce example of a men’s CUSTOMIZED WATCH with elegant WHITE classic DIAL, GOLD PLATED 23K CASE and high-grade original pocket watch mechanism made from International Watch Company (IWC) with BLUE STEEL SCREWS, MASSIVE BARREL PLATE (3/4), RAISED & SCREWED THREEFOLD in ROSE GOLD CENTER JEWEL CHATON, THREE SCREWED in GOLD JEWEL SETTINGS and IMPRESSIVE LARGE BI-METALLIC BALANCE, & BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING.

This timepiece features a new handsome WHITE enameled dial in excellent condition, professionally restored to its original status and perfectly done, absolutely no chips of abuse. This gorgeous, men’s wristwatch features a 60 minute checkered outer track border, black main Roman numerals, gold steel Louis XVI filigree hands and a recessed sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter and “sweep” gold steel seconds hand. Signed International Watch Co SCHAFFHAUSEN in black enameled lettering below the XII.

It is a registered design model that features a three piece GOLD PLATED – 23K case AUTHOR’s DESIGN – SHAPE of CUSHION that provides with glass cover of back lid. This watch was converted from pocket watch. GOLD PLATED – 23K case, new custom made, fantastic, build of THE WANDOLEC ART STUDIO specially for this excellent IWC movement. The lugs are in great condition while the winding crown is in very good shape and operates properly. The case has MINERAL glasses on the front and back side. The case is signed International Watch Co on the lateral bezel and is engraved IWC on the winding crown. The case is decorated HIGH QUALITY ENGRAVING.

Peeking inside via the glass lid I find a spotless manual wind gold plated high-grade mechanism with BLUE STEEL SCREWS, MASSIVE BARREL PLATE (3/4), RAISED & SCREWED THREEFOLD in ROSE GOLD CENTER JEWEL CHATON, THREE SCREWED in GOLD JEWEL SETTINGS and IMPRESSIVE LARGE BI-METALLIC BALANCE, & BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING.

The impressive large bimetallic balance wheel takes nearly the half of the diameter of the movement. Such large balance wheel is another attribute of a lever chronometer. The timing screws are made of rosé gold.

The long-arm index riches the center wheel, which is furnished with an engraved register. That design of the index allows a similar timing of the watch as a fine regulator.

The movement is signed INTERNATIONAL Co – NEW YORK with letter D. The movement has RARE – JONES caliber. Also is signed the movement serial number #11.251. This serial number dates this watch to 1875 as per published production numbers.

You can check this movement background and validate its authenticity by researching its serial number.

About caliber:

This is earlier Jones, with the number #11.251 and signed “International Co.”. This Jones is a Pattern D and unusual also by being a “sidewinder”: that is, the crown is at 3 o’clock and winds the watch.

The first movement made by Florentine Aristo Jones, the U.S. founder of IWC in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, was the Jones Calibre. While full records do not exist, reportedly approximately 26,000 Jones calibre movements were produced from 1872 to about 1876, although some were finished later. Jones movements have been designated as Calibres 1 through 17.

The so-called Jones movements were all three-quarter plate designs, with a characteristic feature being the elongated index pointer, which sometimes is called the “Jones arrow”. The movements had various quality designations, usually related to jewelling. Some were signed with names such as “Romney”, “Greenleaf” or “Craig”. Most Jones watches were initially sold in the United States.

This beautiful wristwatch has the pristine Original movement in an excellent status which was very well saved, considering age of this watch. Mechanism has been recently serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping great, accurate time. Some of the wearable parts on the movement might be replaced, and custom made to fit, since it is close to impossible to find original parts.

It is fitted on a new Handmade of THE WANDOLEC ART STUDIO 24mm black alligator style genuine leather strap with gold steel buckle that has a great vintage look to it.
