I am pleased to offer for sale this timepiece 100% ORIGINAL GOLD – 14K – POCKET WATCH – MINI FORM.

Indeed, it was made by the Borel & Co. of Neuchâtel, Switzerland, a firm founded in 1859 and with a proud history. Borel was one of a handful of Swiss watch makers (that includes Charles Tissot, Henry Moser and Paul Buhre) that found early success in the world market, especially the Russian Empire. In 1866 (just 7 years after its formation) a Borel chronometer won the Neuchâtel observatory contest. They would win this prestigious contest again in 1870, 1875, 1876 and 1890. Fast forward into the 20th century and Borel was the 2nd largest producer of certified chronometers in the world, as late as 1946.

It is a registered MINI FORM design model that features an ORIGINAL porcelain dial signed BOREL, GOLD – 14K – CASE with DIAMONDS and signed HIGHEST QUALITY original movement with the TWO-PART WINDING BRIDGE, THREE FINGER BRIDGE and BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING.

This watch made in Neuchâtel, in the very heart of what is now known as the "Watch Valley". It is here, in fact, at the end of the 17th century, that the flourishing art of Swiss watch making acquired its first distinctions. Since then, it has never ceased to develop and to fascinate the world with the perfection of its creations.

This timepiece features an ORIGINAL handsome white PORCELAIN dial is in excellent to mint condition, absolutely no chips of abuse. It features a gold 60 minute checkered outer track border, elegant black enamel painted Arabic numerals and gold Louis XVI filigree hands. Signed BOREL in black enamel lettering below the 12.

It is a registered MINI FORM design model that features a FIVE piece HUNTER MODEL triple-hinged ORIGINAL GOLD – 14K – case that provides for a useful dust cover over the movement and front lid with DIAMONTS. This timepiece is ORIGINAL GOLD POCKET WATCH.

The blue enameled front lid is in excellent condition and is decorated with gold inlay & DIAMOND. The inside of the front case lid is stamped trademark symbol by BOREL – two cannons in shape. There are also Swiss (Squirrel) Gold hallmarks. Also is signed case referent number #83.909.

Turning the watch over I see that the blue enameled back lid is in excellent condition and is decorated with gold inlay. The inside of the outer case lid is stamped trademark symbol by BOREL – two cannons in shape, case reference number #83.909. Also is stamped Swiss (Squirrel) and 14K – 53 Gold hallmarks. This stamps, case reference number and Gold hallmarks repeat inside on the inner case lid.

Lifting this lid reveals an inner dust cover lid, also GOLD. This was used to protect the mechanism from dust and debris and to provide an extra layer of protection from shock or moisture. The inner case lid is signed BOREL – NEUCHATEL – CYLINDRE – 10 RUBIS.

The winding crown with the bottom from opening front lid is in very good shape and operates properly.

Peeking inside I find a spotless and HIGHEST QUALITY, manual wind gold-plated lever escapement movement with the TWO-PART WINDING BRIDGE, THREE FINGER BRIDGE and BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING. The movement that is not signed with any markings but is most definitely BOREL Swiss in origin.

This beautiful GOLD POCKET WATCH has the Original movement in an excellent status which was very well saved, considering age of this watch.

To set the time, press the pin near the crown IN all the way down with your fingernail and move the crown to adjust the hands. This is called a “nail set” watch, and you now probably know why!
