I am pleased to offer for sale this 1871 timepiece that was made by most respected in the history of American horology E. Howard Watch Company”. In 1868, an American engineer and watchmaker Florentine Ariosto Jones who had been a director of E. Howard & Co., in Boston, then America's leading watchmaking company, founded the IWC – International Watch Company with the intention of combining the craftsmanship of the Swiss with the modern engineering technology from the U.S. to manufacture movements and watch parts for the American market.

 

It is a NOBLE DESIGN WATCH model that features an ORIGINAL PORCELAIN DIAL designed by the artist handcrafted, GOLD PLATED case and an original pocket watch mechanism (SIZE 18) with BLUE STEEL SCREWS, STRAIGHT LINE DAMASKEENING, GENEVA PATTERN, FOUR RAISED & SCREWED in GOLD JEWEL SETTINGS, GOLD ESCAPE WHEEL and SWAN NECK MICROMETER REGULATOR & BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING that dates to 1871.

 

 

This gorgeous, men’s timepiece features an ORIGINAL perfect sunken white PORCELAIN dial is in good condition, but with several small hairlines and designed by the artist handcrafted of THE WANDOLEC ART STUDIO specially for this excellent watch. It is featuring a 60 minute checkered outer track border with black enamel five minute Arabic numerals, elegant black main Roman numerals, steel Louis XVI filigree hands and a separate sunken sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and "sweep" steel seconds hand. The dial is decorated with inlay is in flawless condition made by the painter handcrafted.

 

 

It is a registered design model that features a three piece GOLD PLATED case that provides with glass cover of back lid. This watch was converted from pocket watch. This case, new custom made, fantastic, build specially for this excellent HOWARD movement. The lugs are in great condition while the winding crown is in very good shape and operates properly. The case has MINERAL glasses on the front and back side.

 

 

Peeking inside via the glass lid I find a spotless and high grade, manual wind nickel plated lever escapement movement with BLUE STEEL SCREWS, STRAIGHT LINE DAMASKEENING, GENEVA PATTERN, FOUR RAISED & SCREWED in GOLD JEWEL SETTINGS, GOLD ESCAPE WHEEL and SWAN NECK MICROMETER REGULATOR & BLUE BREGUET BALANCE SPRING.

 

The movement is clearly marked E. HOWARD & Co. – BOSTON – N with movement serial number #49.554. This serial number dates this watch to 1871, as per published production numbers. The movement has 18S size and #917 Caliber.

 

This beautiful wristwatch has the ORIGINAL movement in an excellent status which was very well saved, considering age of this watch. Mechanism has been recently serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping great, accurate time.

 

 

It comes complete with a new 24mm black alligator style genuine leather strap with matching golden Stainless steel buckle for a most excellent look.
