There is signed International Watch Co SCHAFFHAUSEN in red enameled lettering near the III.

GOLD PLATED case, new custom made, fantastic, build specially for this excellent IWC movement. The lugs are in great condition while the winding crown is in very good shape and operates properly. The gently domed MINERAL GLASSES (front & back) are in excellent condition. The case is decorated of BLUE STONES.

Each part of the mechanism, each millimeter it is decorated by a magnificent magic ornament. The bridges have in addition to extensive skeletonization have been gorgeously engraved as well.

On the front side of the movement you can see HIGHEST QUALITY FLORAL ENGRAVING. There is stamped the marking the "IWCo" with a steady sheep, a feather/sheet in a paw, on a signboard. This RARE signature was registered in 1890 and defines this watch to Rauschenbach era.

The barrel plate is stamped the marking the "IWCo" with a steady sheep, a feather/sheet in a paw, on a signboard. This RARE signature was registered in 1890. Also is signed movement serial number #80,850, dating the watch to 1891 as per company production records. The movement has a RARE – 49caliber.

About caliber:

In 1888, IWC introduced its IWC Calibre movement, which was based on the later Elgin III designs. The early IWC Calibres, now known as Calibres 49 and 50, were very much like the rare Calibre 48, but without hidden winding wheels. These movements look virtually identical to the later Calibres 52 and 53, except for a difference in the curve on the three-quarters plate.

Mechanism has been recently serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping great, accurate time.

You can see from any direction the internal mechanics working as the balance wheel spins. They make an elegant statement on the wrist. Watch aficionados and laymen alike when they see a high quality skeletonized watch recognize its beauty.

This is a “NAIL SET” watch so you don’t pull the crown out to set the time. Instead, you press the little button near the crown IN and then move the crown to set the hands, releasing the button once you’re finished. It’s easy, so don’t worry about getting the hang of it!

It is fitted on a new 22mm black alligator style high quality genuine leather strap with fold-over ends and matching gold Stainless steel buckle, ready to be worn and enjoyed or made the new “prize” of your wristwatch collection.

Diameter (with crown):      55.00 mm
Diameter (without crown): 49.00 mm
Watch crystal diameter:     44.00 mm
Thickness:                         15.00 mm

This rare watch winds and set smoothly while keeping very good, accurate time.

Because of the vintage nature of the watch I cannot guarantee its absolute time keeping accuracy even if they are in good running condition and in some rare occasions may require additional adjustment.
